So why evince art, if this is a screenwriting blog on a screenwriter's website? Because, the overall brilliance of Clausen's painting aside, the artist captures the girl's inner world - her turbulence, her sense of imprisonment ... 'Is this my life? Will I become like these old people behind me? Is this all there is? ... in her expression with phenomenal subtlety. As a screenwriter, you must, too. You must paint characters with words with as much sensitivity and nuance, and present those characters to the world.
